Apogennema

Written and illustrated by: Gini Loher

Apogennema...... The force that binds all things. The foundation without which all things would be without life. The spiritual substratum of all being. The alchemy of life.

Illustration from "Not About Sleep"

"Apogennema" is a book of wonderfully meaningful poetry, and stirring illustrations by Gini Loher. Gini draws from deep within to show us, in word and picture, the very essence of us all. The emotions that she portrays are those of all humankind. We have all "Been There....Done That!"

A multimedia artist, Gini Loher resides in Central New York State.

"I've been and artist for as long as I can remember [ and my mother tells me 'longer']!"

The poetry in this work was written from 1979 through 1990. In 1992 an inspiration became to visually depict the spiritual concept behind the piece "Not about Sleep", something that had been carried since the age of 12. In embarking upon this project , illustrations for the further pieces began "magically manifesting themselves" upon the drawing table. "No sooner would I begin one when the conceptualization of another would demand attention. Invariably I would be working on no less than three pieces at one given time. I am fascinated as to how the interweaving of the interpretations of the text, written in the moment, and the hindsight of the illustrations brought the deeper meanings to surface.
