Keith A. Rosko Biography Keith Rosko is an award winning artist and teacher based in upstate New York. He was born and raised in the city of Binghamton, New York and had his undergraduate schooling in the Pennsylvania Dutch Country of Kutztown Pennsylvania, and his Masters work in the coal region of Scranton Pennsylvania.He has spent the last 16 years teaching art at Chenango Forks High School in Binghamton, where he resides with his wife of 12 years, and their two daughters.
He has also worked as a freelance illustrator and commission artist for much of that time.His work as both an artist and educator has won numerous honors from, and been utilized by, such organizations as Wild West Magazine, Photographers Forum Magazine, Cable in the Classroom Magazine, The History Channel and American Artists of the Bookplate.Rosko's recent work has been focused on the areas of historical documentary and drama, as well as other period style work. His specialty is Native American studies, with an emphasis on portrait and figurative work. While he works almost solely in black and white, his photo-realistic graphite pencil renderings show a flair for detail, costume and expression. His work is meticulously researched to reflect a high degree of historical accuracy.
Along with guiding his students, he speaks of pursuing his own creative expression: "My recent work is a reflection of a deep appreciation of and for Native American culture and the contributions it has made to what we think of as our nation."
"I created my first Native American piece some 11 years ago as a Christmas present for my mother, who has a love of history. The more research I did and the more photographs and documents I examined, the more enamored I became with Native American culture. The representation of parts of this culture, its past and more recently the present, has become one of my overriding passions."
